PARAIBA · BANGKOK WHOLESALE
Electric neon blue and mint-teal lab-grown sapphire in the Paraiba shade jewellers love. Calibrated parcels, matched pairs and single centre stones, supplied direct from Bangkok’s Jewelry Trade Center to customers worldwide.
STRAIGHT ANSWER FIRST — Paraiba is a copper-bearing tourmaline, and gem-quality tourmaline cannot be lab-grown commercially. What we supply is lab-grown corundum (sapphire) in the Paraiba color: harder, durable, consistent in color, and clearly disclosed as lab-grown on every invoice.

THE HONEST PART
Natural Paraiba tourmaline is a copper-bearing elbaite tourmaline. Its glowing neon color comes from copper and manganese locked into one of the most chemically complicated crystal structures in the mineral world. Labs have produced tourmaline crystals experimentally, but nobody grows gem-quality tourmaline at commercial scale. If someone offers you “lab-grown Paraiba tourmaline”, ask questions.
So we went the other way. We source lab-grown corundum, the same mineral as sapphire and ruby, grown and colored to match that electric Paraiba blue-green. Chemically and physically it is a real sapphire made above ground. Optically it delivers the look buyers want, and on the hardness scale it beats tourmaline by a wide margin.
Every stone we sell in this shade is described as “lab-grown sapphire, Paraiba color” on our invoices. That protects you, your customer and your reputation, and it is the correct way to disclose it in the US, UK and EU.
Mohs 9
Lab-grown sapphire offers everyday durability compared with tourmaline’s 7–7.5.
Repeatable color
Matched pairs and suites with consistent shades, ready for reorders.
Clearly disclosed
Every invoice states lab-grown sapphire, Paraiba color—never tourmaline.
SIDE BY SIDE
Mineral
Natural Paraiba: copper-bearing elbaite tourmaline. Ours: lab-grown corundum (sapphire).
Hardness (Mohs)
Tourmaline: 7–7.5. Lab-grown sapphire: 9, second only to diamond.
Refractive index
Tourmaline: approx. 1.62–1.64. Corundum: approx. 1.76–1.77, for more brilliance.
Specific gravity
Tourmaline: approx. 3.06. Corundum: approx. 4.00, heavier per millimetre.
Clarity
Natural stones are often included, sometimes clarity-enhanced. Our lab-grown stones are eye-clean as standard.
Color consistency
Natural stones vary piece to piece. Our repeatable shades make matching pairs, suites and parcels easier.
Supply
Natural supply is rare and unpredictable. Lab-grown shades can be reordered more consistently.
Price level
Fine natural Brazilian Paraiba is among the most expensive colored gems. Lab-grown color sapphire costs a small fraction—ask us for the wholesale list.
Gemological values are typical ranges. Any competent gem lab will identify our stones as lab-grown corundum, which is exactly what we state they are.
ORIGINS BUYERS SEARCH FOR
Most people searching “Paraiba” are looking at an origin. Here is what each one means, and where a lab-grown Paraiba color stone fits for your design and budget.
THE ORIGINAL
Brazil
Discovered in the 1980s in the state of Paraíba, which gave the gem its name, with later finds in Rio Grande do Norte. Brazilian stones set the benchmark for that glowing neon color, are usually small, and command the highest prices.
LARGER SIZES
Mozambique
Found in the mid-2000s and now the main source of larger Paraiba-type tourmaline. Colors range from soft aqua to vivid blue-green, and big clean pieces still sell at serious premiums.
SHORT-LIVED
Nigeria
Copper-bearing tourmaline surfaced here around 2001. Fine material exists, but supply has been sporadic, so consistent parcels are hard to build.
COMMON CONFUSION
Ethiopia
Ethiopia is a respected source of opal, emerald and sapphire, but it is not an established Paraiba tourmaline source. If you see a blue-green “Ethiopian Paraiba”, ask for a lab report before paying.
Want the look of a top Brazilian neon stone without the five-figure-per-carat price? That is exactly the gap our lab-grown Paraiba color sapphire fills—especially for engagement rings, eternity bands and everyday pieces.
COLOR RANGE
Electric Neon
The glowing blue that made Brazilian Paraiba famous. Our best seller for centre stones.
Lagoon Blue
Bright tropical blue-green, the classic Mozambique look. Great in halos and clusters.
Mint Teal
Softer and greener, pairs beautifully with yellow and rose gold.
Deep Ocean
Richer, darker saturation for men’s rings, signet tops and statement pieces.
Screen colors are a guide. Send us a reference photo of any Paraiba you love and we’ll match it and video the stones in daylight before you pay.
BUYER TOOL
Corundum is about 30% denser than tourmaline, so a lab-grown Paraiba color sapphire weighs more than a natural Paraiba of the same dimensions. If you are replacing a natural stone in an existing setting, or quoting a client by carat, use this estimate.
Estimated carat weight
Choose a shape and enter millimetre dimensions to compare estimated carat weights.
Estimate only. Assumes a standard depth of about 60% of width. Actual weights vary by cut, typically within 10–15%.

PEOPLE ALSO ASK
Can Paraiba tourmaline be lab-grown?
Not commercially. Tourmaline has extremely complex chemistry and gem-quality crystals are not produced at commercial scale by any lab. Products sold as “lab Paraiba” are almost always a different material grown in the Paraiba color. Ours is lab-grown corundum (sapphire), and we say so clearly.
Is lab-grown Paraiba a real gemstone?
Yes. It is real corundum, chemically and physically the same mineral as natural sapphire, grown in a lab instead of mined. It is not glass, not a coating and not a simulant. It is simply not tourmaline, which is why we call it “lab-grown sapphire, Paraiba color”.
What is a “Paraiba sapphire”?
It is a trade nickname for sapphire in the neon blue-green Paraiba color. In our case that sapphire is lab-grown. Gem labs will report it as synthetic or lab-grown corundum, so always describe it that way to your customers.
How much cheaper is lab-grown Paraiba color sapphire than natural Paraiba?
Dramatically. Fine natural Brazilian Paraiba is among the most expensive colored gems per carat, and even Mozambique material carries large premiums. Our lab-grown Paraiba color stones cost a small fraction of that. Message us your shape and size for current wholesale prices.
Is it good for an engagement ring?
At 9 on the Mohs scale it resists scratches far better than tourmaline (7–7.5), so it holds its polish and color for daily wear.
Do you sell Ethiopian or Brazilian Paraiba?
We do not sell natural Paraiba tourmaline from any origin on this page. We supply lab-grown sapphire in the Paraiba color. Brazil, Mozambique and Nigeria are the recognised natural sources, while Ethiopia is not an established Paraiba source.
Will a gem lab identify the stone?
Yes. Any accredited lab will identify it as lab-grown corundum, which matches exactly what we invoice. On request we can arrange a lab report for larger centre stones.
What is your minimum order for wholesale?
There is no minimum for a single centre stone. Wholesale pricing applies to parcels and repeat orders. Tell us your volume and we will quote the right tier.
Do you ship to the UK, EU, US and Middle East?
Yes. We ship fully insured worldwide from Bangkok. Import duty and VAT depend on your country and are usually paid by the buyer on arrival.
Will the color fade over time?
No. The color is part of the crystal, not a surface treatment or coating, so it will not fade with normal wear and light exposure.
